Inspiring a More Inclusive Economy
Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2019
Our 21st-century world is rapidly changing, presenting new societal challenges within a shifting economic landscape. The Bloomberg New Economy Forum brings global leaders together to discuss how the private sector can help shape a more inclusive, thriving future. For their 2019 event, Schema collaborated with Bloomberg to create bold media installations to highlight conference topics and engage attendees. Working closely with Bloomberg’s editorial team, Schema designed a series of close to 50 striking data visualizations for two massive media walls, each over 50 feet wide. The visualizations complemented the editorial team’s varied data findings with an eye-catching presentation in a busy conference atmosphere. Behind-the-scenes, Schema designed the visualization platform to make content updates quick and painless for the editorial team. The result was a memorable display aimed to inspire powerful economic players to help create a better future for all.
Well-designed media installations can deepen discussions among peers and leaders, whether in a conference setting or a corporate office. Having designed the media displays for the New Economy Forum’s inaugural event in 2018, Schema reunited with the Bloomberg team to collaborate, under a tight schedule, to create installations for the 2019 conference in Beijing. With two huge media walls—one in the lobby and one in the plenary space—their strategy focused on highlighting compelling, concise data findings with eye-catching designs to engage busy attendees. Schema designed several striking visualization templates to present the editorial team’s curated findings at a very large scale, with ample layout options to accommodate diverse information. The designs also balanced both English and Chinese (Mandarin) content. The platform allowed the editorial team to update content dynamically, creating an easy workflow in addition to a compelling experience for attendees.
The final product was a series of close to 50 unique, striking visualizations that presented insightful data to some of the world’s most influential economic leaders, with the hope of inspiring positive action in the face of mounting global challenges.
