Promoting Public Parks
The Trust for Public Land ParkScore Application
The benefits of public parks are many. They connect us to nature and provide opportunities for recreation; being near green spaces may even boost our mental health.
The Trust for Public Land’s mission is to create parks and land for people. Schema worked with the nonprofit to design and build an application that allows cities to understand and compare the access and quality of their park systems. Through the platform, cities can see their individual ParkScore and their ranking among 100 major US municipalities. By viewing their scores broken down by access, investment, acerage, and amenities, cities can understand their strengths and pinpoint areas for improvement. The application provides The Trust for Public Land with an important tool to motivate policy makers to create more, and better, parks. View the application here.

An intuitive interface allows users to understand scores according to the ParkScore criteria. Toggles also allow users to apply different weights to criteria and re-sort a ranked list of cities so they can hone in on areas of interest.
Easy Comparison for Useful Outreach
Cities are able to instantly see how they compare with other municipalities and why they are ranked as they are. The webpage is easy to use and share, supporting effective outreach.
